What makes Eye the Price different?

We don't subscribe to "Show me the money."

EyethePrice.com avoids the CPC (Cost Per Click) model. Unlike the larger "shopping comparison sites" that charge the sellers of the items $1 or more PER click for the consumer to see the item, raising the price and / or keeping the seller from being truly competitive due to high marketing costs EyethePrice participates in "Revenue Share".

What is revenue share? In its simplest terms, if a selling partner eventually receives a sale from a link from EyethePrice.com, that seller will share a percentage of the sale. This is important in trying to keep prices low since no money has traded hands unless a sale is made.

CPC model is most profitable for those charging it. The top CPC comparison sites make money (HUGE money) just from the consumer clicking the link and couldn't care less if the click-through results in a sale for the merchant. This helps keep pricing high, since the seller has to recoup the costs of the 700 clicks they had to pay for before a single sale was made.

Great for the price engine charging the CPC -- Horrible for the seller and consumer.

EyethePrice searches the mega-stores as well as the 'lil-guy. Small companies, large ones, if the organization is reputable, we will include their products in our price comparison engine giving everyone a fair shot at getting their pricing listed and compared.

We also monitor Amazon.com and eBay for the best prices. After all, with more and more consumers doing online research before purchasing, we strive to give you the big picture.

Tips & tricks

Searching

Navigation can be accomplished in two ways, searching or categorization. To search, simply enter your phrase which can include a sku, product model number, upc, manufacturer part number, category, brand, attribute or phrase. Examples of searches:

Sony -- Brand sample
Sony dvd player -- Brand, product type sample
black office chairs -- Attribute, product type sample
050332169951 -- UPC sample
260050 -- Manufacturer part number (MPN) sample
10mp cameras by Fuji -- Phrase sample including brand, type and attribute

Our search engine will automatically singularize any phrase, making searching more precise, "Cameras" becomes "Camera"

Categorization

Items are grouped into categories by the seller(s), Eye the Price is continually consolidating these various categories into a single format. However due to the nature of categorization, some items may be categorized by their seller differently than similar items. For example, computer RAM items may be found in the "Computers" category as well as "Electronics" or "Media" categories.

Regardless of our ongoing consolidation, navigation by category can be a quick and easy method of getting to the item(s) you desire. Once a category is selected, Eye the Price may offer up to two additional narrowing (filtering) options, sub-categories and manufacturer / brand pull down lists may be available. Selecting either will than narrow your item list.

You may return to the previous category by clicking its name.

Item Quick Navigation

At the top of item detail pages, a "quick view" tool allows for the speedy movement into a specific brand, category or subcategory item listings.

The center area contains up to 10 additional item thumbnails for quick jumping to a desired item and is sorted in a previous-next manner.

On the right of the tool area are the top offers listed by reputable sellers. Highlighting the name of the seller will cause the display area to profile the seller’s description and their image of the item. Clicking the seller’s name will take you to that seller’s page detailing the item.

Item Details

Useful information is displayed in this area, current categorization, MPN, UPC, sellers main image and description as well as tool links to help us more properly categorize the item, report a bad or improper description or email a link of this item to your friends.

As you pass over a seller’s name or image, this area will display that specific seller’s item details.

eBay (New & Used)

Depending on present market conditions for the item you are reviewing, Eye the Price may display a current offer by eBay. Typically these offers will be for a new, in the box good sold by an eBay power seller. Pertinent information will be displayed such as where the item will be shipped from, shipping cost and time remaining if an "auction". Eye the Price will include the shipping cost in the delivered total if the item is a "Buy it Now" listed item and has a set-in-stone or fixed selling price. If it is an auction item, we will display the time remaining as well as the highest bid amount and current bids.

eBay auctions or "Buy it Now" items are not considered in price trending nor included in sorting changes in the product offers area.

Seller's Offers

Default sort is by the total price of the item by the seller, which may or may not include shipping cost, this depends on the information available.

Highlighting the seller’s name or image will cause the display area to profile the seller’s description and image of the item.
Clicking on the seller’s name will take you to the seller’s page detailing the item. Clicking "Selling Info & Storefront" will take you to a descriptive page detailing the seller and display relevant categories the specific seller has items. Navigation / category links will narrow the listings to only those items the seller has offers for.

Shipping costs are based on the seller's standard shipping within the contiguous US, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Please see the seller's website for up to the minute shipping options.

Current Price Trending

If enough daily data has been accumulated, Eye the Price will display a current price trending chart, this can be a beneficial tool used to determine if it is presently the best time to buy. As market conditions, seller’s inventories and customer demands change, prices can fluctuate. Typical use of this graph is for visual indication of the items price stability and its lowering or raising over time. If an items price is trending higher and higher over time, it may be a good idea to buy before it raises even more.

Eye the Price allows for entry of any selling price – you pick your price! Once an offer meets or beats your desired amount, we will notify you via email.

To protect your privacy and help against spam, we will send a one time email requesting confirmation of the request. Once confirmed we will not require confirmation again, nor will we share your email address with any 3rd party.
